Fantasy MMA Scoring System
Like I mentioned earlier you earn points based on your fighter’s performance in the ring, here is a breakdown of all the points up for grabs in a typical Draftkings UFC contest:
In Fight Points:
- Significant Strike = +0.5
- Fighter Advancement = +3
- Takedown = +5
- Reversal or Sweep = +5
- Knockdown = +10
After Fight Points:
- 1st Round Win = +90
- 2nd Round Win = +70
- 3rd Round Win = +45
- 4th Round Win = +40
- 5th Round Win = +40
- Decision Win = +30
As you can see the more spectacular a fighter wins, for example, a 1st round KO, the more points your team will get.

- Check the Vegas lines. Vegas lines will separate the contenders from the pretenders for you. Ya big underdogs sometimes pull it out in the UFC but it’s rare to see many fighters as -500 favorites or more lose.
- Ground and Pounders can rack up serious points for you. Look for those fighters will the ability to takedown an opponent and smack him or her for the majority of the round or even earn a knockout in the process. Chris Weidman, Cain Velazquez, and Ronda Rousey all come to mind.
- You’ll need an underdog. With the salary cap format you simply can’t fill out your team with all favorites, they will be too expensive. Look for an underdog with knockout power, if they pull out a victory it could be huge points and leapfrog you over the competition.
