Top Sleeper Picks This Week
Tony Finau ($7700)
Finau comes into the Farmer's Insurance Open with two respectable finishes so far in 2017, 9th place at the Tournament of Champions and 20th at the Sony Open. He is one of the top power drivers in the PGA and averages around 308 yards per drive, which should set him up nicely to attack the Par 5 holes.
Risk Factor: Low
- Good Course History (18th in 2016, 24th in 2015)
- 5/6 in cuts made this year
- averaging 77.4 Draftkings points this year
Luke List ($7200)
Not a well-known name but has started the year on fire and is currently ranked 12th in the FedEx standings with 5 top 25 finishes in 7 tournaments so far this season. He is another huge driver currently ranked 2nd in driving distance and that is one of the key fantasy stats to focus on for the courses at Torrey Pines, especially the South Course.
Risk Factor: Medium
- Averaging 98.5 DraftKings points this year
- 7/7 cuts made this year
- Not a great course history but riding his current hot streak
Mid-Tier Sleeper Pick
Micheal Kim ($6600)
The youngster Kim could be in line for a huge PGA win sometime soon if his current form holds up. He's coming of 3 straight top 30 finishes and has been very consistent so far this year. He's currently one of the best putters in the game and if he can get his GIR under control I think he has a real shot at a top ten finish.
Risk Factor: Medium
- Finished 31st last year
- Recent form has been stellar with an Adj. Round Score of 68
- 4th in Strokes Gained Putting
Low-End Longshot Picks
Adam Hadwin ($6200)
The Canadian kid is still looking to grab his 1st PGA tour win and we doubt it's going to come this week. That being said he is playing some of best golf ever right now coming of a 59 in round 3 of the CareerBuilder Challenge. He's coming of a 2nd place finish and has a low salary so be warned he could be a chalky sleeper pick play with a huge recency bias.
Risk Factor: High
- Best finish is 35th in 2015
- 69.8 scoring average so far
- 3 straight Top 15 finishes
Tiger Woods ($7900)
He's back and how could you write a Sleeper Picks article without mentioning him, he will be the most discussed golfer this week hands down. You know the story there's not much to say about Tiger, you either believe in him or you don't. He does have the history at Torrey Pines to be competitive but that was a long time ago. I'm taking a pass on him this week but if you are feeling lucky go for it.
Risk Factor: High
- Has won tournament 4 times
- Last played here in 2014 and missed the cut
- 1st PGA start in 19 months
Torrey Pine Course Notes
- First two rounds are played on both the North and South Course
- Last two rounds are played strictly on the South Course
- South course measures aprox. 7,700 yards and is the harder of the two, par 72
- 2016 Winner - Brandt Snedeker
Key Fantasy Golf Stats to Look At
- Driving Distance
- Course History
- Scrambling
- GIR
